6 Days Holidays in Tokyo can be fun. Other than the little research that we did and the few youtube videos of to dos and places to go that we watched in youtube, we were able to enjoy while having a relaxing Japanese experience during our 6 days trip to Tokyo in June 2023.
Flight To Tokyo
Taking the ANA airlines from Kuala Lumpur at about 7.15am, we reached the Narita, Tokyo airport at around 3.25pm. Yes, it was about 7 hours flight from KL to Tokyo.
Narita Airport
There were loads of pools of human in the Narita 1 airport. The airport was conveniently located to the train station. Though there are many information counters and machines to purchase the mrt or train cards, getting information on the purchase was simply simple. There were many service staff who wears the tag “I speak English’, making the enquiries simple.
SUICA and PASSMO train card
We were enquiring on where to purchase the SUICA card, but as all the new SUICA cards were sold out, we were recommended to purchase the PASSMO card from the card purchase machine. There were a few options of value for us to choose. We chose to purchase a card for JPY10,000 (S$100). The card costs JPY500, leaving us a total card value of JPY9,500 for us to travel via the train. There are many stations and terminals , however it was simply easy for us to go to the station and enquire on the best travel route at the service counter next to each station’s gantry. The card can also be used to purchase drinks or food from the food machines in the train stations.
Beware Of The Stairs
The only disadvantages in the train stations in Tokyo is that there are some places that do not have conveniently located lift or escalators. Hence, we had to drag and carry our heavy luggages up and down the stairs.
The Hotel at Asakusa
The B-Conte Residential Hotel that we booked were neat and nice with good washing machine. It is also nicely located in the middle of the busy and happening Asakusa area. It is walking distance of many eateries, supermarkets, shops and malls. Roxy Mall and 24 hours Don Quijote and some eateries were conveniently located nearby. We were also located near Sensoji Temple and Sumida River.
We booked the hotel in advance, via Booking.
Sushi Reiwa at Asakusa
We managed to walk around Asakusa on our first day and head to Sushi Reiwa for sushi, sashimi and tempura. The restaurant was on the 2nd floor and was good and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and nice too. And we even get to experience a friendly 6.2 magnitude earth quake, during our dinner there. The place trembled slightly, we thought customers were walking up the restaurants till we realized the staff and a few of the Japanese customers in the restaurants were excited listening to the news on the tv, that was announcing the earthquake. The staff calmed us down, with sign language to ask us not to worry, and it is ok.
The food was fresh and delicious and I would say quite reasonably priced too. You can either pay with cash or card.
Debit cards with stored cash allow us to exchange the currency to local currency for each transactions.
More about Tokyo
Sexy Hunks Trishaw Pullers
Well! This is the place where I want to take trishaw. The trishaw pullers in Tokyo are mainly made up of sexy muscular hunks and some beautiful ladies. They bring you around the Asakusa town to show you tell the many interesting tourists attractions areas, food and items.
The Plants & Flowers
The plants are flowers beautifully bloom I some parts along the road, making it a beautiful scene for one to rest, ponder and shoot a few pictures.
The Stations
The train stations here are interlinked and getting around may not be easy if you do not ask the counter staff. There are many options of route for one to take to reach your destination. We always make it a point to check and confirm our route with the station control staff, who are conveniently placed just at the corner of the entrance of each station.
Eating and Walking Not Allowed
The unique thing about Tokyo is that you are not allowed to walk and eat at the same time. So, when you purchase snack or drink, you are supposed to stay at the designated sites, near the shop, to finish your food or drink before proceeding with your strolls.
